The climatic scene of George Bernard Shaw's The Devil's Disciple as produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Aldwych Theatre in 1976.
This was the RSC's nod to the US's Bicentennial celebrations of that year and in this scene TP, as the pastor Revd.Anderson, has just saved Dick Dudgeon (Tom Conti) from the gallows. Also pictured are Estelle Kohler as Mrs.Anderson and John Wood as General Burgoyne.
While Shaw is sometimes regarded as being poor theatre, this was a riproaring and timely production directed by Jack Gold with whom TP would work many years later on the final Inspector Morse.
